USP College has made investments in cutting-edge technology and resources to ensure students gain the skills they need for successful career progression.
On Friday 29 November, USP College officially opened its highly anticipated Immersive Theatre, Engineering Workshops and MedTech & Sports Science Building.
The Immersive Theatre comes equipped with cutting-edge technology that is designed to connect the College’s learners with educators across the world.
‘This is more than just a theatre, it’s a stage without limits’ explains Dan Pearson, CEO of USP College, ‘our goal is to break down geographical barriers and create a space that allows our students to connect with world-class educators, enhancing their learning experience.’
Similar to the Immersive Rooms present on each of the College’s campuses, the Immersive Theatre is a versatile facility designed for both educational and professional events, ranging from lectures and workshops to virtual conferences. The new addition escalates the potential of the rooms, over 200 attendees can immerse themselves face-to-face, whilst accompanied by an infinite number of virtual attendees. All having the same opportunity to engage, collaborate and experience the feel of a live demonstration.
Also unveiled were the College’s new Engineering Workshops – fitted with Colchester Machine Tool Solutions, including Welding Suites, Virtual Reality Welding Suites, Lathes, Mills, Robotic Arms and more. Students studying T-Level in Engineering, Manufacturing and Control systems can benefit from access to this equipment giving them hands-on experience industry tools before starting their work placements.
The College also held the official unveiling of its new MedTech and Sport Sciences Building at the Seevic Campus. The new building is home to a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities, including an industry standard Medical & Sport Testing Suite, Digital Suite, Skills Suite, Veterinary Skills Lab, Lecture Theatre and Study Spaces.
Dan Pearson, CEO of USP College said "the unveiling of these new facilities is a proud moment for us. These facilities provide a space where our students will gain practical, hands-on experience using industry-standard technology and equipment. These facilities are integral to our mission of providing our students with the tools and experiences they need to succeed in their chosen industries.
“Furthermore, these investments allow us to expand on our already impressive suite of innovative and immersive learning spaces. As a college, we are committed to developing essential digital skills that align with the rapidly evolving needs of industry, for both students and staff. Our vision is to deliver the skills of tomorrow, today.”
These new additions build on the success of the Hospital Simulation Suite, introduced last year to support T-Level Health students and the College’s network of Immersive Classrooms.
It has been an honour to welcome visitors from HashTag United, Mayor of Castle Point Cllr Lynsey McCarthy-Calvert and Angles Hutchingson alongside the College’s sector board members and valued employer partners.
Students have enjoyed getting hands on in our new spaces, and staff alike. From all staff AI workshops, to athlete sport fitness testing it has been great to see the rooms in action.
