USP College is delighted to announce that Access to Higher Education (HE) student Sheree O’Neil has been named the winner of the Keith Fletcher Memorial Prize for Outstanding Commitment to Study - a prestigious national award that recognises exceptional dedication and resilience of adult learners.
Sheree received her award at an official ceremony held at the House of Commons alongside three other Access to HE students from across the country, where they celebrated for their inspirational achievements.
The Keith Fletcher Awards are presented annually and supported by all nine Access Validating Agencies (AVAs), honouring students who have shown exceptional commitment to their studies, often while overcoming significant personal challenges.
Sheree, who is pursuing a career in nursing, expressed her gratitude and excitement upon receiving the award:
“Winning the Keith Fletcher Access to HE award is an incredible honour, and it means so much to have my hard work recognised. It’s given me a huge confidence boost as I continue my journey to becoming a nurse, inspiring me to keep pushing forward and make a real difference in people’s lives.”
Tracey Page, Curriculum Manager for Access to HE at USP College, praised Sheree’s determination and spirit:
“She is a shining example of many Access to HE learners who show courage, commitment and dedication to their studies, often in difficult circumstances. We are immensely proud of Sheree and thrilled that her journey has been recognised on a national platform.”
The awards celebrate the life-changing potential of education, particularly for adult learners returning to study after time away from formal education. Sheree’s award recognises not just academic performance, but her extraordinary perseverance, drive, and ability to inspire others through her journey.
