USP College Partner With Local Charity for Heart Scans
- Posted 13 Dec 2024
We are delighted to announce that USP College will be hosting two heart screening days at its Seevic Campus in Benfleet, in a bid to help young people detect any hidden heart conditions. Screenings will take place on the 28 and 29 May 2025 during the half-term.
With over 3500 students, it's a great opportunity to spread awareness of the great work The Carli Lansley Foundation does to prevent heart issues going undetected. Two hundred young people will have their heart screened for free in May, potentially saving other families from the devastation caused by Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.
During USP College's Charity Week, students from both the Seevic and Palmer's campuses attended sessions on the importance of having a heart screening and the impacts it could have on their lives. Presented by founder Karl Lansley, the session also gave students the opportunity to secure their places to have their free screening in May.
We would like to thank Karl for the fantastic work he does in our local community. We are excited to be a part of his story.
The charity’s foundations are driven by personal grief and a desire to help young people, and Karl told us that 120 families have benefited from their efforts.
The charity's collaboration with USP College is part of our strategy to reach the target demographic of 14-35-year-olds and raising awareness among thousands of students and staff. We hope the partnership will lead to increased participation in health screenings.
Jess Lansley, Karl’s daughter and USP College student, attended the Autumn Student Conference to speak about her personal connections to the charity.
As part of the college’s collaboration with the Foundation, Jess’ Graphic Design teacher Phillip Steed completed a sponsored swim to raise funds. There will also be a quiz night across USP College campuses to further support the charity in providing free screenings to the public.
The charity is active on social media, particularly Facebook and Instagram, for updates on fundraisers, events, and screening dates, encouraging community engagement and awareness.
