Friends, family and tutors gathered to celebrate the Class of 2023 as they walked the stage for their graduation.

USP College’s Class of 2023 graduates recently celebrated their achievements after successfully completing their courses.

Over 120 students graduated from the Foundation Degree in Early Years, BA (Hons) in Education Studies & Early Years and HND in Business.

The evening, held at The Mill, Arts and Events Centre in Rayleigh, saw Dan Pearson, CEO, and Clare White, Principal, present graduates with their scrolls on stage. Family and friends of the graduates watched on proudly while their hard work and achievement was acknowledged. Speeches were also delivered by the CEO and Luke Brewster, Head of Higher Education.  The event was also attended by the Mayor of Castle Point, Cllr Lynsey McCarthy-Calvert and members of the Academic Procession, Charlotte Sullivan, USP College Programme Leader for Early Years, Lesley Boyle, Link Tutor for University of Hertfordshire and Steven Hendy, COO of USP College.

Dan Pearson addressed the graduates, saying:

In a world where technology is ever-present, your journey at USP College has equipped you with something equally vital – the human touch.

As we embrace an AI-driven future, remember, it's your human skills – communication, warmth, empathy – that will truly make a difference

You don’t come with flashing lights or digital interfaces. Instead, you bring the warmth of a comforting smile, empathy in your eyes, and a reassuring hand.

As you venture forth, armed with both technical prowess and human empathy, you're set to make a real impact. At USP College, we've always believed in nurturing these holistic skills, because the future isn't just about what you know, but how you connect and empathise.

The College is proud to work with several partners to deliver Higher Education courses. Including the University of Hertfordshire, a long-standing partner, who validate the Foundation Degree in Early Years and BA (Hons) in Education Studies & Early Years.

Special academic prizes were awarded to two graduates. Emily Oke, 45 from Rayleigh, graduated from the Foundation Degree in Early Years and was awarded the prize in recognition of the progress she made despite ongoing health issues. Michele Joseph-Russell, 52 from Purfleet, graduated from the BA (Hons) in Education Studies & Early Years, and was awarded the prize for her resilience and achievements.

Naima Begum, 29 from Tilbury, graduate of the BA (Hons) in Education Studies & Early Years, addressed the assembly on behalf of her cohort, saying

Our journey started with phenomenal tutors who, beyond imparting knowledge have supported us with our personal growth; they were the mentors and advocates for our success who have supported us and seen us grow.

This hands-on approach has allowed us to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. This experience has given us a deep understanding of our work, making us individuals who are not just good at what we do, but who continually desire to make a lasting impact.

So let's carry on the lessons learned, the friendships we have formed and the knowledge gained, into the next phase of our lives. The journey doesn't end here; it only transforms into new challenges and opportunities. Today, we are not just graduates, but strong individuals ready to make a positive impact on the world.
