USP College Leads the Way in Sustainability with Self-Sufficient MedTech and Sports Sciences Building
- Posted 04 Mar 2025

As part of our commitment to sustainability and innovation, USP College is proud to announce that our new MedTech and Sports Sciences Building is entirely self-sufficient.
The building, which is home to a new Sports Rehabilitation Suite, Testing Laboratories equipped with industry standard equipment, a specialist Lecture Theatre and more, will primarily be used by students in our Medical Technologies & Life Sciences sector and our Higher Education students.
The state-of-the-art MedTech and Sports Sciences Building is equipped with photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on the roof, which generate clean, renewable electricity. This energy is then converted through an inverter to power the entire building, ensuring that it operates efficiently and sustainably during college hours. Remarkably, this setup allows the building to function without drawing any electricity from the National Grid, significantly reducing our carbon footprint and energy costs.
This development is a major milestone in USP College’s ongoing sustainability efforts. By integrating green energy solutions into our infrastructure, we are not only reducing our environmental impact but also setting an example for students, staff, and the wider community on the importance of sustainable practices.
Through initiatives like this, USP College continues to lead the way in sustainable education, equipping students with the knowledge and inspiration to become future pioneers in green energy and environmental conservation.
