Christina Froud is in her first year at USP College Seevic Campus, in Benfleet, where she is studying Level 3 Fashion Business & Retail.

She spent a week working alongside celebrity fashion stylist Jennifer Michalski-Bray to gain an insight into the industry she is keen to step into after her studies.

During the work experience, she spent time with comedian Katherine Ryan during filming at the BBC Studios and at a fashion shoot, as well as attending the launch of the dressing for the spotlight book of fashion designer Pamella Roland.

Christina, from Southend, was also tasked with contacting brands to ask to use their products in photo shoots.

I loved the experience; I would do it all over again. I feel very fortunate to have had this experience, acting as an assistant stylist for a week. The opportunity really showed me what it would be like to be a stylist. Jennifer gave me so many tips throughout the week which will be invaluable in helping me to progress to a career in this industry.

At USP College, I am completing a portfolio of work as part of my course. Jennifer kindly gave me some insider tips as to what she would look for in a portfolio when hiring an assistant, so I am looking forward to incorporating those into my own.

Christina, who has picked outfits for her relatives since she was a little girl, has always wanted to work in the fashion industry. When she competes her studies at USP College, she hopes to attend London College of Fashion before pursuing a career as a stylist.

The Fashion Business & Retail course launched at USP College in September 2023.

I am extremely proud of Christina for finding herself such an incredible work experience placement. At USP College, we value the benefits of work experience and so all students studying vocational courses will attend work experience.

Christina will have not only received useful tips that she can use as part of her coursework and portfolio creation, but has now got some incredible contacts within her dream industry. Building her network while at college will set her up for a successful future within the fashion and styling industry.
