Creative Industry Day Insights with Paige Fortune
- Posted 11 Apr 2025

As part of our Staff Industry Skills Day, Paige Fortune, Curriculum Manager for Creative Arts, had a fantastic opportunity to spend the day at ROM Theatre Arts. ROM is performing arts school in Stansted, specialising in providing Higher Education opportunities for students passionate about theatre.
Paige explored the institution and was able to sit in on ballet and tap classes with ROM’s third-year students preparing for their assessments. Watching the students work at such a high level of discipline was truly impressive - she was particularly impressed by the precision to each movement, highlighting ROM's high standard of training.
Beyond observing classes, Paige had some in-depth discussions about potential future collaborations between ROM Theatre Arts and USP College. They explored ways to create exciting new opportunities for our students, with ideas for this including:
🔹 Audition pathways – Offering our students the chance to audition with ROM as a progression route into Higher Education.
🔹 Level 4 connections – Establishing a link between our new Level 4 Diploma in Performing Arts and ROM’s current Level 4 students, enhancing industry networking and shared learning experiences.
Paige noted "Building strong industry connections like this is essential in providing our students with real-world opportunities and clear progression routes into the performing arts world. I’m looking forward to developing this partnership further and seeing where it can take our students in the future!"
It was an inspiring experience, giving Paige a deeper insight into the training and expectations at a professional performing arts institution. All in all, the day reinforced the importance of strong technical foundations in performing arts education, which our performing arts department is committed to whilst building student knowledge.
