Creative Industry Day Insights with Kieran McKenny
- Posted 05 Apr 2024

As part of our Staff Industry Skills Day, Kieran McKenny, Curriculum Manager for Creative Arts, explored the world of immersive digital experiences and virtual production at two exciting creative hubs in London.
Kieran's first stop was Frameless, an art gallery that transforms traditional exhibitions into interactive digital experiences. He then visited Silvertown Studios, with focus on media and film-making.
"At Frameless, I explored how immersive digital art installations create engaging and interactive experiences, utilising large-scale projections and motion tracking. At Silvertown Studios, I gained insight into Virtual Production techniques, including LED volumes, real-time rendering, and how these technologies are shaping the future of filmmaking and media production."
This industry visit will play a key role in shaping our new Vocational Level 3 VFX & Virtual Production course, launching in September 2025. By integrating insights from Frameless, Kieran can provide an opportunity for students to experiment in our College with interactive digital art and immersive storytelling. Further, the knowledge gained from Silvertown Studios will help students develop hands-on skills with LED screen technology, real-time rendering, and virtual set design.
Experiences like this empower our staff to bring fresh ideas into the classroom, ultimately benefiting our students and their future careers. By staying connected with industry advancements, Kieran can help to ensure our creative curriculum reflects the latest trends and technologies.
"These experiences will help ensure the course reflects industry standards and gives students hands-on experience with the latest technology."
