Our Learning Plus team aim to provide each student with the individual support they need in order to reach their full potential whilst at college.

All students who wish to discuss their needs, before or after joining us, are welcome to call into Learning Plus at any time (no need to book an appointment). We are also able to offer confidential interviews so that we can assess each student to ensure the correct support is provided.

We are able to assist with a variety of needs including, but not limited to:

  • Dyslexia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Physical Disabilities
  • Sensory Impairment
  • Asperger Syndrome Emotional and Behavioural difficulties
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Our Learning Plus team are also able to provide in-class support and study support such as:

  • English and Maths
  • Planning essays
  • Structuring coursework
  • Organising study materials, files and portfolios
  • Effective revision techniques
  • Improving time management.

We are also able to help with any exam access arrangements you may need including, a scribe, extra-time or timed tests.

Support for Visually Impaired students

USP College offer Qualified Teachers of Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (QTVI) who offer a wide range of support to help visually impaired students thrive in the college environment. Support may consist of:

Curriculum Access: Establishing strategies to enable students to access the college curriculum and to learn independently.

Teacher Guidance: Equipping teaching staff with skills in how best to support the learning needs of visually impaired students.

Specialist Skills: Teaching of essential skills such as using assistive technology, independent living skills, and learning braille.

Mobility and Independence: Liaising with mobility and rehabilitation specialists to develop students’ mobility and independence skills.

Accessible Materials: Ensuring learning materials are accessible by modifying them into suitable formats like large print, electronic, braille, or audio.

Exam Arrangements: Advising on specific arrangements for exams or assessments to accommodate the needs of visually impaired students.
