Course Overview

This course is a great choice if you are enthusiastic about a career in the sport industry. The course is also ideal for preparing learners for progression to Level 3 Sport & Exercise Science where an element of the course is dedicated to skill development and preparation for next steps.

What will I study?

You will gain knowledge of the anatomy of the human body and how it relates to sport, as well as more practical aspects including: Fitness and Training Testing and Leading Sports Activities. The course also has an exciting project based learning aspect which will include students gaining a UK Sports Leaders Level 2 qualification in Sport Leadership. Leadership and volunteering is a big part of the student experience with a focus on the 'softer' skills needed in life.

You will also be able to develop a range of study skills including communication, English, Maths and presentations skills.

Mandatory

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • UK Sports Leaders Level 2 in Sport Leadership

Entry requirements

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language. Maths and/or any Science would also be an advantage.
  • At least one GCSE must be grade 4 or above.
  • Grade 3 or above in any sport-related GCSE.

What could I do next?

You could progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science or Sport Development, Coaching and Fitness.

Alternatively you could progress to an Apprenticeship or gain employment within the Sports and Leisure industry.

Former Level 2 Sport student Luke Beard went on to gain a distinction profile on the BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Science. He is now studying at the University of Hertfordshire.
