Develop your performing skills and practical experience in the performing arts on this two-year course.
You will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in the performing arts industry or for progression to Performing Arts courses at university level.
This course combines theory and practical experience to give you a springboard towards achieving your goals.
This qualification is divided into 6 separate projects and performances over the two years. By the end of the course you will gain experience in a wide range of acting skills and techniques.
Topics covered will include: Performing scripted plays, devising, scriptwriting, directing, contemporary and classical acting techniques, performance skills, voice, improvisation, history of theatre, playwrights, storytelling as performance, physical theatre, movement skills and preparing for auditions.
You will be taught through practical workshops and discussions. Assessment is mainly based on practical exploration but there is also an element of theory in each of the units; log books and portfolios will assess your progress and ability to evaluate and target set as well as your grasp of the skills covered for each unit.

Additional information
You may be asked to attend an audition as part of the interview process.
Performance outfit – black t-shirt, leggings and plimsolls. You will also be expected to attend relevant performances.
Successful completion of two years study will be recognised with a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma. This is equivalent to three A-Levels and will offer you the possibility of entrance to further study at university or special vocational colleges and academies. You could also use your qualification for entry into the entertainment and allied sectors.
Previous students have gone on to develop careers in the performing arts industries. Others have progressed to higher-level study of dance, acting and performing arts-related subjects at universities and vocational colleges around the country.
