Course Overview

Drama & Theatre Studies (Applied) will see you devise, rehearse and perform your own work in creative and scripted productions to different audiences.

This course will build your understanding of the different elements of theatre, stage and film.

What will I study?

Through a combination of practical (60%) and written (40%) coursework you will cover the following essential areas:

  • Bespoke acting techniques
  • A wide range of other performance disciplines
  • Audition techniques
  • Preparation for stage and screen
  • Performance case studies and live theatre reviews
  • Specialist performance and practitioner workshops
  • Collaborative work within the Live Creative Theatre Company

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including Maths
  • Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language
  • Grade 5 or above in GCSE Drama
  • If you have not taken Drama at GCSE but have extensive experience in Drama, this will also be accepted

What could I do next?

You could continue onto one of our Level 4 Creative Diplomas at our Seevic Campus or go on to study Drama or a Performing Arts course at university or drama college. You will benefit from many transferable skills, such as critical thinking, teamwork, negotiation and collaboration. As well as careers in the theatre industry it has particular value for careers in teaching, law, marketing, public relations, advertising, management and arts administration.
