You will learn about Chemistry in a range of different contexts, the impacts it has on industry and many aspects of everyday life. A-Level Chemistry opens up opportunities in a range of careers such as Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Research and Medicine. Preferably taken alongside another science subject, this course is ideal if you enjoy and excel at maths and science.
The course will broaden your horizons and see you gain a broader understanding of the world around you from a molecular perspective such as materials and physical phenomena, and the chemistry of living things. The course covers the full range of organic, inorganic and physical aspects of Chemistry. You will develop analytical techniques relevant to industrial Chemistry including infrared, NMR and mass spectroscopy.
Core Maths must be taken alongside this course, if you are not taking A-Level Maths.
Chemistry is an excellent basis for progression to a science degree programme. It provides a wide range of career opportunities, including: Medical Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacology and Research.
There are also an increasing number of Higher and Degree Apprenticeship opportunities in sectors such as Chemical Engineering. Former students have gone to the Royal Veterinary College, PhD in Chemistry at Oxford and a Higher Apprenticeship with Rolls Royce.
