Job Details

Join our dynamic Student Services Team to support, guide, and motivate students in reaching their aspirational goals. This role plays a crucial part in managing student behaviour outside the classroom, identifying and addressing misconduct through various intervention and mediation strategies. You will also work closely with internal and external partners to provide holistic support to students throughout their college journey.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote the College’s strategy of Career-Focused Learning, ensuring a positive learner experience that benefits the community, local, and regional employers.
  • Maintain a high profile in student open areas across both campuses, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students.
  • Proactively engage with students to ensure they demonstrate the College's values and expected behaviors.
  • Develop and deliver staff training on managing challenging behavior.
  • Foster a culture of respect and kindness among students and staff.
  • Prepare regular behavior and disciplinary reports for Senior Management.
  • Work with the Student Services team to create and implement interventions that support student well-being, engagement, and progression.
  • Provide individual and group support to help students engage positively and meet college expectations.
  • Act as a mentor and provide signposting to external support services when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and interventions.
  • Actively recruit students to participate in enrichment activities and student bodies.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Student Services, the Wellbeing Team, Progress Coaches, and external agencies as necessary.
  • Participate in safeguarding efforts as part of the college safeguarding team.

Job Requirements:

  • A high standard of general education.
  • Relevant work experience in youth work, social work, or related fields.
  • Ability to handle challenges that can hinder student progression and success.
  • Experience in adhering to safeguarding, diversity, equal opportunities, and health and safety policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Word and other office software.
  • Resilience, patience, and confidence when managing challenging situations.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and external partners.

The right candidate will have:

  • Qualification in youth work or related field.
  • Experience working with young people in an educational setting, preferably within the FE sector.
  • Knowledge of the Further Education (FE) environment.
