Job Details

To carry out a range of security services to ensure the safeguarding of students, staff, visitors, and all other users of the college is maintained at all times. This will include the protection and security of college buildings and assets, including its grounds and car park areas.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Positive Behaviour team and other key college personnel to maintain security of the college premises, including students, staff, visitors, and other authorized users.
  • Be conversant with the College Safeguarding and Health & Safety arrangements, including emergency procedures currently in operation.
  • Check students' and staff's ID cards to prevent unauthorised persons from entering the premises.
  • Monitor and document incidents.
  • Monitor all areas through CCTV facilities and patrols.
  • Provide advice and guidance on security matters to all users of the facility when required.
  • Collaborate with the Positive Behaviour team and other key College Staff to follow up on incidents and reporting.
  • Provide cover for events when required.
  • Undertake First Aid Training and serve as a college First Aider.
  • Be familiar with college procedures relating to visitors and contractors working on college premises.
  • Respond promptly and responsibly to the personal radio system installed within the college.
  • Manage disruptive and challenging behaviour from students, and remove unauthorized persons tactfully and non-confrontationally.
  • Undertake internal and external patrols, including car parks, at relevant and appropriate times.
  • Deal with inquiries and give directions to all customers in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Complete documentation such as Incident forms and CCTV request forms in a timely manner.
  • Provide assistance in the event of fire alarm activation, report to the designated area, and await instruction.
  • Work flexibly and efficiently to maintain the highest professional standards and promote and implement the policies and procedures of the college.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times, reporting any disclosures to the appropriate member of staff, such as the Safeguarding Team.
  • On hybrid working Fridays, continue to maintain site security, attend team meetings, and support student attendance activities and exams invigilation as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as needed to meet the needs of the business in line with the role.
