USP College was formed in 2017 following the merger of Seevic College in Benfleet and Palmer’s College in Grays.
The College’s history dates back to 1706 when Palmer’s first opened after merchant William Palmer founded a charity school for the parish of Grays, while the Seevic Campus opened in 1972 as a Sixth Form college.
The new further education college builds on its strengths and heritage to provide even better prospects for students across Essex. This reflects the direction the college is taking – career-focused learning giving students the skills employers need, with students not only gaining formal qualifications but developing professional skills desired by businesses.
We have established links and partnerships with high-achieving universities and businesses across the country. The college prides itself on having a unique, safe and inclusive environment, where its students can be who they want to be; our aim is to see them succeed.
The William Palmer Trust has supported the College over a number of years, allowing the College to operate, update its infrastructure and support learners.
The trust still supports learners at USP College Palmer's Campus through financial assistance as well as support prize and award ceremonies.
